Day 1. Fes Arrive in Fes – the centre of cultural and religious life in Morocco . Transfer from the airport or station to your hotel / riad.
Day 2. Fes : visit of the medina We will visit the UNESCO listed Medina with its many maze-like streets and its medieval passageways and covered markets. From the Medina we will find the historic mosque known as El Quaraouyine that was founded in the 9th century. From here we can also visit the tomb of the founder of the city, Moulay Idriss. The afternoon will be spent in the intriguing arts museum of Nejjarine , wandering around the places of the first schools and Theological universities in Morocco known as Seffarine and Bou Anania. You will notice that Moroccans venture to the souks and markets in the late afternoon as the weather is cooler and the day’s chores have been completed! This is the best time to see the colour and life of the city and we will also visit the souks to try our bargaining skills or simply watch the theatre of life in the Medina . The night is spent in one of the traditional riads that Fes is famous for.
Day 3: Fes - ifrane -Azrou-Midelt-Ziz Valley-Erfoud-Merzouga After breakfast, you leave for Midelt through the mountains and the cedar woods of the middle Atlas, passing by Ifrane, a charming ski resort and Azrou an important handicraft centre specialised in the work of cedar wood. After the Zad pass (2,178m/7,146ft) you arrive in Midelt for lunch. Afternoon you will dive to Erfoud via Errachidia and the Ziz valley dotted with palm trees. Continuation to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi for the desert tours. Dinner and over night in hotel in Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga-Erg Chebbi After the breakfast, you will make the large turn of the dunes while passing by : 2 oases of MERZOUGA, the wandering deposit, the village of KHAMLIA (village of the Gnaoua) mines of MIFISS the plates desert with the meeting of berber nomads of the desert , oiasis Tissardmine ,and return to the hotel around 3 p.m. for the departure of your caravan with back of dromedary so attending the sunset and spend the night in berber tents in middle of the dunes. dinner and over night in bivouac.
Day 5. ERG CHEBBI - ERFOUD - TODRA GORGES And DADES GORGES - From ERG CHEBBI we will head towards the town of TINGHIR which sits in the middle of the largest palm tree plantation in Morocco . We will arrive at lunch time at the valley of TODRA and you will be treated to lunch in the centre of mountain crevice. From here we will take you to the village of BOUMALNE and onwards towards DADES GORGE. We will spend the night in a hotel by the river.
Day 6. DADES –Valley of the Roses - BOUTGHRAR (mountain) - OURZAZATTE - We will take the road of ‘the thousand Kasbahs’ and pass through the fragrant ‘valley of the roses’ and the mountain of BOUTGHRAR until we reach OUARZAZATE (known as the Hollywood of Morocco due to its many film studios and frequent use as an exotic film location). We will visit the famous Kasbah TAOURIRT. You will spend the night in a hotel in OUARZAZATE.
Day 7. OUARZAZATE - AIT BENHADOU - TELOUET - MARRAKECH - We will leave the town of OUARZAZATE to visit the splendid Kasbah, AIT BENHADDOU, where films such ‘Laurence of Arabia’, ‘Gladiator’ and ‘The Mummy’ have been shot. We will travel the famous Tizi n' Tichka mountain road that was built by the French colonial forces in the 1920’s. In the mountains you will discover the Kasbah of TELOUET and by the early afternoon we will arrive in MARRAKECH. The night will be spent in a charming traditional hotel.
Day 8. MARRAKECH - MARRAKECH - After breakfast you will uncover what makes a million tourists every year choose Marrakech. We will begin with a visit to the palace and gardens of Menara and followed by a trip to the ancient minaret of Koutoubia (twin tower to Giralda in Seville / Spain ), then the tombs of Saadian (splendid mausoleums built at the 16th century), and Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘Jardin Majorelle’. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will take a walking tour of souks of the old city and we will follow the footsteps of Carrie Bradshaw in ‘Sex and The City II’ and look at the unique offerings for sale such as whimsical leather slippers and magic lamps. We will conclude the day with a drink on the terrace overlooking enthralling square of Djema el Fna which is known for its visual spectacle. Dinner also will be taken in the square.
Day 9. MARRAKECH - Airport transfer according to the time of your departure. |
